SPACE FOR NATURE - Book Production Case Study

Photography, Self publishing, Wildlife & Nature
Next Project Previous Project

This was my second project working with photographer Matthew Maran, for whom I previously produced Hampstead Heath, London’s Countryside.

On this occasion we produced a book on behalf of a third party, Clinton Devon, a prospectus of their work managing the land and wildlife in this 10,000 hectare estate in the south-west of England.

Matt spent over a year visiting Devon and capturing beautiful images to illustrate their work. Together we devised a square format specification suitable for the range of image ratios, text and tabular material needing to be included.

We used an uncoated paper to provide the natural look and feel preferred by the client. By ensuring the images were prepared and handled in sympathy with the stock being used we retained the colour, detail and sharpness of the images in print.

  • Development and costing of specification, identification and engagement of appropriate repro and print suppliers
  • Overall project management including print buying, purchasing, scheduling, logistics
  • Colour-managed image reproduction and proofing (on uncoated paper) to FOGRA standards
